WHO TO WRITE TO

People You Should Write To:

The list below is rated in order of urgency. This list will change
over time as the campaign changes, so please do check back to see
who to write to in support of the campaign.

  1. THE EAST OF ENGLAND PANEL SECRETARIAT (EIP)

Thank you to everyone who wrote to the EiP Panel - we now have a seat at the same table as Orion Land and Leisure on Matter 8N scheduled for 14 December 2005.

  2. PEOPLE WORKING ON THE FOREST HEATH LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK (LDF)

The local development plan is meant to be drawn up after consultation with local people
We have proof that FHDC intend to influence the plan so that it enables the Watermark
development. Not only is this undemocratic it also allows a development no one other than
    that which FHDC wants!

Parish Councils are central to the process, please ensure your local PC is actively
involved in the LDP and are saying the right things! Contact your local PC.

For information on the Local Development Framework go to FHDC website

  3. It is important that you make your views known either by writing directly to:

Robin Millar at Forest Heath District Council
    Chairman - LDF
    College Heath Road
    Mildenhall, IP28 7EY
    E-Mail: robin.millar@forest-heath.gov.uk

or write to Rona Burt at Forest Heath District Council
    Vice Chairman - LDF
    E-Mail: rona.burt@forest-heath.gov.uk

or requesting your Parish Council to submit your comments

or submit your comments to the Secretary at the 5vpt

  4. THE LAND OWNERS

The land owners have not yet sold this land to the developers. We
know the price for building land goes up to about £50,000 an acre
instead of £2,500 for it at present. They could change their minds
    - well you never know! A land owner in Kent has recently made the news
for refusing to sell his land for development, ours could follow suit.

Land Owners (the people who have to agree to sell their land to the developers):

    Kiddy Trust Land Owners:

The Trustees of F V Kiddy Deceased Will Trust
    c/o Carter Jonas
    6-8 Hills Road

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Because it is c/o an agent suggest you start your letter with (for example):

Would your client re-consider, before signing with Orion, the unknown,
loss making company, selling their land in order to avoid this terrible
    scheme going ahead. etc etc..............

    ending with (for example):

We would be grateful if you could forward this letter to your clients for consideration.

    for FOREST HEATH

Cllr Angela Sewell (Representing Red Lodge and Herringswell)
    30 Heatherset Way
    Red Lodge
    Bury St Edmunds
    Suffolk IP28 8JN
    Tel: 01638 751856

Cllr Sewell has sat on the secret development working group since election, and has
heard the plans, but decided (or been told) not to tell local people. She is
independent of the planning committee and as such is well able to express
opinion on the development ideas, but refuses to do so. Please do ask her if she
thinks this is the best thing for local people.

Cllr Lisa Chambers (Represending Red Lodge and Herringswell)
    38b Heatherset Way
    Red Lodge
    Bury St Edmunds
    Suffolk IP28 8JR
    Tel: 01638 552716
    E-Mail: lisa.chambers@forest-heath.gov.uk

Cllr Chambers is on the FHDC planning committee. FHDC are trying to keep the
planning committee members separate from the development process so they can
look at the matter 'impartially' when a planning application comes before them.
Having said that, our representatives should always answer such questions as
"do you think the idea of massive greenfield development is a good thing?""do
you think the Forest Heath area needs a new town?".

    Cllr Roger Dicker (Representing Kentford)
    45 Moulton Avenue
    Kentford
    Newmarket CB8 8QX
    Tel: 01638 750392 (Home & Business), 07734 869873

Cllr Dicker, who was elected in May 2005, is on the FHDC planning committee. FHDC are trying to keep the
planning committee members separate from the development process so they can
look at the matter 'impartially' when a planning application comes before them.

Cllr Carol Lynch,Chairman (Representing St Mary's ward)
    Grabella Stud
    Herringswell Road
    Kentford
    Newmarket
    Suffolk CB8 7QS
    e-mail:carol.lynch@forest-heath.gov.uk

Cllr Lynch has declared an interest in this matter at the start of 2003
so will probably send back a reply to that effect.

    KENNETT

Kennett is in Cambridgeshire, so will officially only be consulted as a matter
of courtesy in this matter as a neighbouring authority.
